Stress is a common experience in our everyday lives. If we don’t deal with it properly it can take a toll on our physical health and emotional well-being. So below are a few tips for de-stressing yourself next time you’re laying in bed trying to count sheep.

A few minutes of practice per day can help ease anxiety. Research has shown that meditation can be helpful in lowering heart rate and blood pressure, and even improving cognitive performance.

Drink Herbal Tea

Have a Hot Bath

Heat relaxes muscles—and taking a long bath can be soothing for the mind as well. Use your favorite bath salts and soaps, get a bath pillow, and decorate the room with candles.

Listen to Music

Listening to music can have a tremendously relaxing effect on our minds and bodies, especially slow, quiet classical music. This type of music can have a beneficial effect on our physiological functions, slowing the pulse and heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and decreasing the levels of stress hormones.
